Putin’s Russia – The Darkness of Russia
2002
Rybachi village near Vladivostok.
Volydya or «Wolf» lives in Rybachi village. The Russian tatoo on his back reads «One man is a wolf to another man.»
Just after he finished school he went to prison for stealing and was in possesion of a gun and received 2 and a half years. He says he had to steal because his family didn’t make enough money. After he got out of prison he wanted to join the army. He longed for a normal life and he knew that without the army he had not chance to stay out of jail. The army commission rejected him with the following explanation «We won’t give you a gun so you can rob someone else.» He could not find a job and was returned to prison for stealing again. When he got out of prison a local policeman told him «Let us know when you decide to go back to jail, we’ll come and drive you there.»
